Artist's Statement
|
|
The purpose of my art is to wake the sheep and slap the face of the world. It is my urgent belief that we as a specie are on a road and racing blindly to a final divergence, our "last chance" as it were. And though each original will find a home on some wall, I have a far larger vision so that each will have a better chance to be seen and thereby sing its tale to a far larger audience. It is my intent to put these images on a wide array of items. The first vehicle I intend to use is T-shirts; but not just a transfer on cheap cotton cloth, but rather high quality custom designs. Each design will be unique to the particular image and in limited runs of no more than 500 per size. Following their success I will then begin creatively incorporating my images on a wide array of other items shorts, shoes, jackets, etc. Additionally I will expand to skateboards, surfboards, windboards and sails. In the home I envision rugs, pillows lampshades and the like. With these images, I hope to start not a revolution but rather an evolution. Each finished piece has its' own purpose and story to tell. Their communications are often dark yet aspire to generate a momentum towards positivity.
You may not like them but you cannot ignore them. I present them to stand alone and shout their message.
As to their creation, I use a mixed media format consisting of oil and powder pastels, ink and mixing adhesives on acid free, heavy weight drawing paper. Each "finished" piece is a collage of what I call "tool" pieces. The number of "tool" pieces used to create a finished piece may vary from 3 to 30.
I have posted eight pieces for your review and have approximately 75 more ready to find a home.
